Researchers from Academia and Industry Meet with NREL to discuss Hybrid Simulations of Wind Turbines

February 6, 2009

A one day workshop jointly organized by the Center for Research and Education in Wind (CREW), and the George E Brown Center for Fast Hybrid Simulation (a NEES facility) in Boulder on Feb. 6, brought together experts from LMS, MTS, the University of Colorado, Colorado School of Mines, Colorado State University, and the National Wind Technology Center (NWTC) of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden.

Following various technical presentations, visit of the CU-NEES FHT facility, and discussions, it was determined that real time hybrid simulation may have an important role to play in the simulation of wind turbine blades and should be further explored through an industry-academia partnership.
